David Ryan Salon is going to be 20-years-old in December–and we want you to help us celebrate!

Besides being certified in the Simply Smooth Brazilian Keratin Treatment, I use a free style cutting technique that combine wet and dry hair cutting techniques. My work has been featured in magazines, such as “Shape” and “People” and on television shows, such as “Law & Order” and “Martha.” A little more 411 on me: My style icons are Diana Ross, Ted Gibson, Martin Parson and all the classic styles of the 40s and 50s.” I’m in love with hair– my dream is to travel throughout Europe and study it.

We’re so lucky to be located just steps away from one of the most exciting areas in the world: Times Square/Theater District! It’s known for theater and restaurants–but it’s also known for the attractions, such as Toys “R” Us Times Square, the Center of the Toy Universe (Broadway and 46th St.)
Take a stroll down 42nd Street between Seventh and Eighth Avenues, and you’ll see Madame Tussauds/New York, packed with a “who’s who” of New York and international celebrities.
Now go further West to 11th Avenue and 46th Street. You’ll be able to visit the Intrepid Museum, where you’ll view hundreds of exhibits and walk the 900-foot-long aircraft carrier, Intrepid.

And now, as we write this, Spring is just around the corner; so while you’re at the Intrepid, take a walk down the breathtaking Hudson River Park where, on a nice day, you’ll see strollers and carriages, roller bladers, bicyclists, sun-bathers, and pedestrians enjoying sun-filled views of the water.

Last Wednesday, Allure Magazine held its ”Beauty Insider’s Choice Awards” at the Metropolitan Pavillion in New York City. Several Paul Mitchell products were voted #1 and, David Ryan is a Paul Mitchell focus salon.

Spring is in the air and pretty soon the cold weather will be behind us!
And it’s the perfect time to try something new. Right now, color trends are high fashion and fun… reds are really red, brunettes are dark and sultry, blonds are very pale and most important there is a super-shiny finish that looks like lacquer. At David Ryan Salon, we recommend lunchtime color or a shine bomb; this gives the ultimate in high shine finish and can even extend and brighten your color, without the commitment.
Hot spring looks on the runways were beautiful, with full soft waves reminiscent of 30’s and 40’s, with glamorous finger waved styles, tousled natural waves and texture, texture and more texture!
We also saw braids—and we love them. An easy way to make this look more adult is to do a soft side swept braid with soft pieces to frame the face. Braids are also a really easy way to get those loose beach-like waves; braid hair while it’s damp and use a texturizing spray like the one in the amazing Paul Mitchell Awapuhi Wild Ginger line. When hair is dry, take the braid out and run a bit of a light pomade thru to add more texture. Voila! You have sexy beach waves.
The other hot look we saw was high- shine hair, slicked back into ponytail and knots. This is super easy: Just wet hair down with water and comb for a really smooth look–but if you want a more unfinished look, just rake thru with your fingers. Create a low ponytail and wrap it up with a hair elastic. NO SCRUNCHIES!! To give it a finished look, smooth the hair in the ponytail with a flat iron or curl it with a large barrel curling iron—and don’t forget the high gloss spray or pomade to really make it shine.
